Responsibilities

The DBA is part of a team that supports a complex, 24x7, SQL Server environment. You will work with DBAs and other development staff on incident and change management, participate in small to mid-size projects, facilitate maintenance activities and ensure operational effectiveness for all SQL Server instances.  In conjunction with the other database administrators, you review performance and capacity trends and provide recommendations to staff and management. This is a SQL DBA position NOT a SQL Developer position.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical support for SQL Server database environments
  • Responsible for installation, configuration, administration, performance management, troubleshooting and upgrading SQL Server database servers
  • Operate alongside the Data Management Group, Technical Operations and Development
  • Monitor capacity trends and provide guidance to management as necessary
  • Conduct on-going maintenance events as required to ensure maximum operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a SQL DBA
  • Experience with SQL 2008 R2 and SQL 2016 Enterprise
  • Familiar with SQL 2008 and 2016
  • Ability to review requirements and make recommendations for Windows team to build out servers for SQL server
  • 3+ years experience with:
    • Supporting production 24X7 and non-production database servers
    • Installing SQL Server 2008R2 and SQL Server 2016 database servers
    • Upgrading SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL 2016
    • Configuring and maintaining data replication options such as log shipping, mirroring, and replication
    • Creating, altering, and maintaining databases and database objects (stored procedures, functions, tables, indexes, etc.)
    • Creating SSIS packages
    • Troubleshooting database errors and connectivity problems
    • Diagnosing and addressing database performance issues (Performance Monitor and SQL Profiler) Foglight and SQL Grease monitoring tools
  • Proficient in T-SQL programming
  • Windows Server Operating Systems 2012 (2008 R2and SQL 2016 Standard/Enterprise)
  • Project / System Development Life Cycle
